David Hunt has been a partner at DAC Beachcroft since 1969 and now chairs its Financial Services Division, having previously served as Senior Partner for 10 years (1995-2005).
David was MP for Wirral, then Wirral West, from 1976 to 1997, during which time he held Cabinet posts under Margaret Thatcher and John Major, as Secretary of State for Wales, Secretary of State for Employment and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (and Minister for Public Service and Science). He was made a Life Peer in 1997. He was made chair of the Association of Conservative Peers in March 2016 and he is co-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Legal and Constitutional Affairs and a member of the Select Committee on the Constitution.
Lord Hunt was independent Chair of the Press Complaints Commission between 2011 and 2014 and set up its successor body, the Independent Press Standards Organisation. He is chairman of the British Insurance Brokers' Association.
